KPG provided design services for this $5M project considered to be the “Main Street” in downtown Burien.  The project called for reducing traffic speeds in order to make pedestrian access safer.  The entire roadway cross-section was reconstructed from building face to building face.  Pedestrian amenities included wider sidewalks, curb bulbs with crosswalks, benches, pedestrian lighting, trees, planters with custom railings, information kiosks with public art and a gateway.  KPG also provided construction support services for the project which was completed in 2003.  KPG prepared all graphics and choreographed the complete public involvement process.
